October has a way of bringing out Austin's playful side. Pumpkins start glowing, costumes make their annual comeback, and stores across the city trade their usual atmosphere for something a little more mysterious. For residents of Aura High Pointe Apartments, the calendar is packed with ways to get into the Halloween spirit.

Here are a few events worth adding to your October plans.

1. Pumpkin Nights at Pioneer Farms

See Halloween in a new light at Pumpkin Nights, returning to Pioneer Farms from September 17 through October 31, 2026. The experience takes visitors along a half-mile walking path featuring nine immersive worlds and installations created with more than 10,000 hand-carved and custom-designed pumpkins. After exploring the trail, stop by Pumpkin Village for food, games, and live entertainment.

2. House of Torment

For those who prefer Halloween with a serious dose of adrenaline, House of Torment is back for select nights from September 12 through November 8. Austin's long-running haunted attraction returns with immersive environments, elaborate sets, and live scares around every corner. The 2026 lineup includes a Friday the 13th-inspired Jason Universe experience for horror fans looking to test their nerve.

3. Trail of Terror at The Crossover

Head north of Austin for a walk on the darker side at Trail of Terror, running September 19 through November 1 at The Fieldhouse at The Crossover. This haunted outdoor experience sends visitors through dark, foggy woods filled with unexpected scares, making it a fun choice for anyone who wants something more immersive than a traditional haunted house.

4. Boo at the Zoo

Austin Zoo's Boo at the Zoo returns for eight nights throughout October, including October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24. Guests can experience the zoo after dark, with train rides, musical entertainment, and unlimited visits to the Haunted House included in the festivities. Tickets are limited, so reserving a spot early is highly recommended.

5. Fear Fair at Sign Bar

Looking for Halloween plans with an Austin twist? Sign Bar's Fear Fair runs September 16 through November 1. The seasonal takeover features a spooky maze with live actors and themed drinks, while daytime visits offer festive photo opportunities without the nighttime jump scares.

6. Freaky Deaky Fest

Turn Halloween weekend into a full-scale night out at Freaky Deaky Fest, happening October 30 and 31 at the Travis County Expo Center. The two-day electronic music festival brings EDM, house, and techno artists together across multiple stages for a high-energy Halloween celebration.

Make October Your Own

Living at Aura High Pointe puts an entire city of fall experiences close by. Spend one evening wandering through glowing pumpkin installations, another testing your courage at a haunted attraction, then come home and enjoy a quieter autumn night in your apartment.

Spooky season does not last long, so pull out the costumes, round up your friends, and make room on the calendar. Austin has plenty waiting in the shadows this October.
